Do not use this company. They will not give you an address of the company. They will not return your calls. They overcharge, the industry norm for a geyser fitment is R 6000.00, AAA charges R 8000.00.
This company is a rip-off. They overcharged on a earthleakage replacement, did it wrong and as a result I have had to get somebody else to come and fix their shoddy work (I have report as substantiation). Their customer service people never return a call and you cannot speak to a manager
OVER CHARGED !!!
Re: Invoice. 76??? – Payment of Electrical Work Done
On Monday the ??th July 2009 I called AAA Electrical to come and check the power trips at my house. I sourced the contact number from the 2009/10 Yellow Pages directory. The advertisement supplied a local number and “No Call Fee” on the advertisement.
I called AAA Electrical at approximately 15h50 to arrange a time when the electrician could come out. An electrician was arranged to come out at 17h00, but I was notified that a call out fee would be charged at R.299 – this was due to a printing error in the Yellow Pages.
Once the electrician arrived he inspected the DB board and told me that the main isolator switch and earth leakage switch needed to be replaced. He also stated that a new law required that the lights and plugs need to be on separate neutral bars. He then worked out a quote for me and called me outside to his car to give me a quote.
The electrician & and his helper Jerry then started to do the job. This started at about 17h15. They then disconnected all the wires from the neutral bar and then installed the main isolator switch and earth leakage switch. After that they drilled and installed the neutral bar (lugs).
At 21h30 (4¼ hours) they were complete with the wiring of above mentioned. All this time was spent at the BD Board with 5 minutes spent looking at one room’s light while the iron was switched on – light and plugs where on same line.
My wife gave the electrician and his helper tuna sandwiches and drinks while I went to draw the money, as an EPT was not possible.
My concerns are as follow:
1. The main isolator switch and earth leakage switch models are as follow Main isolator switch: QA-S-2(13) 63 Amp Earth leakage switch: QA17C 63 Amp I have sourced prices for the above parts at other electrician and these are their prices they quoted me: Main isolator switch: QA-S-2(13) 63 Amp and Earth leakage switch: QA17C 63 Amp for R.915 and the labour charge was R.435.
If these are the current market prices for the parts then the labour comes to R.4780.93 – R.915 = R.3865.93. Why are the labour rates so much? Why did they take so long to install the parts? This job usually takes between 1½- 2 hours to do if the electrician is fully prepared. E.g. the electrician at my house had a light that went flat after the first 1½Then he used my light, sorry; I held my light for his assistant to carry on working. He spent 20 minutes getting his “brand new drill” from the car and connecting wires to the plug and taping it up, so that he can drill 1x small hole. This was the only physical work done by the electrician on the BD.
2. I was told that it is a law that the lights have to be on a separate neutral bar than the plugs. That is why he had to install a second neutral bar. I have followed up with people at Electrical; Contractors Board – Chris Koen – and he said that this is not a law. This lead to a 30 minute job being dragged out to 4¼ hours of unnecessary work.
3. I have called AAA Electrical numerous times and asked for an explanation. When I call and ask to speak to a skilled person on the other side, the lady at the other end says that everybody is busy and then takes your number and says that somebody will call back. I have also asked them to give me their physical address but they will not. I have traced it as 188 Corlett Dr, opposite Wanderers. Their tax invoice only shows a postal address on it.
4. They eventually sent a person out to my house to come and inspect the work done. The gentleman called Des said that the work had been overcharged and should not have been more than R1500. He also spoke to AAA Electrical and told them that the work had been overcharged. I was asked to send them a electrical quote I had received on the same work done by another electrical party – this quote was given after the work was done by AAA Electrical. I faxed the invoice through on wed 29 Jul ’09. Still no feedback.
5. I mentioned this problem of mine to a friend of mine. He said that he had similar problems with AAA Electrical.
6. I have had a look on http://www.HelloPeter.co.za and there are numerous people with problems from AAA electrical: overcharged, contractor not returning calls, no physical address given, etc
This problem might sound small but many people are being taken for a ride, and this amounts to thousands of rands of hard work money.
This company is a FRAUD do no use it!! They charged me over R3500 and did not fix my electrical problem. It is impossible to get a physical address and refuse to talk about it..
I have also had a bad experience with this company and intend seeking legal recourse against them. I believe that there are several avenues to pursue and I intend to pursue every single one. If anyone wishes to join me, please leave a message on this site. Together we can take down businesses that prey on the apparent insignificance of individuals. Together we have a voice that people will listen to.
I should have read these comments before contacting them.
They charged me over R6000.00 for a new plug, 2 circuit breakers, main circuit and trip switch.
I refused to pay the full amount and paid R2 500.00 awaiting someone to check the charges.
Nobody from AAA Electrical got back to me yet.
THEY CONNED US OUT OF R 11000 for a job that could have been done by a handyman for less than R 2000. Join us on facebook – search “skelm bliksems” or mail us at johnnyjapr6@yahoo.com
Here is one of their electricians – ons of the con’s cell phone number – Mike Levy – feel free to call him…he’ll enjoy a chat specially after he conned an innocent lady. 072 807 2164
They gave me an address….23 Wellington Road, Parktown…but I bet its false. This isn’t a company – its a con!
They are ripp off artists. the biggest cons!!! Beware!
I too should have looked up AAA ELECTRICAL before getting them to come do some work at my place.
My pool motor stpoped working and through the yellow pages saw the apparent “professional” advert in the yellow pages and boy was i wrong !.
I first had them come give me a quote to which they said the following on the quote :
Remove and replace pool motor
Re-wire current cabling
Terminate electrical supply
Remove piping from old motor
Supply and install 0.75kw motor & pump
remove old cabling to D/B and by means of scotch guard kit join where necessary.
The charge for this was R6977 incl vat
Knowing that the price was steep i was in a fix and needed it done so i gave the go ahead.
Well from here all went pear shaped, after paying the 50% deposit a few days later the fellow ,Niel, no longer worked for AAA so they sent a chap by the name of Owen. They changed the motor and also found out that the timer was the main issue and was faulty (?) and started packing things back into the car and so i obviously asked what about the rest on the job quote. He knew nothing of the further work and rudely brushed me off and left. I know that a pool motor is between (depending on the model) R1800 and R 2500 labor mabey between R350 -R500. Now there is a huge gap between this and the total they issued me.
I spoke to the lady at the call center and she said that there was something not right and would get back to me on the Monday.
Meanwhile on Sunday my son and myself decided to have a swim and low and behold my 4 year old son got a shock of his life when he entered the water, (There was current flowing though the pool).
Monday i called the office of AAA and they said they would get the call center to respond. I again spoke to a lady whom said that they will send someone out to complete job and shocking issue. Not 2 hours later i got a call again from the call center asking when can i do final payment. I again said that firstly there are problems and the job was not complete and that they had put my son in a dangerous situation. There was no apologies or suggestion of sending a owner/manager out to have a look for them selves all he kept asking was when will i pay the balance of the quote. I ended up getting very cross and told the chap off and put the phone down. It is disgusting there way of doing business and funny enough i am still waiting for a response.
Should anything have happened to my son i promise there would have been hell to pay!
AAA should be a vacume business as they really really suck and i am not the only one whom thinks so. I wonder what the competition board would have to say ?
AAA electrical , very quick to submit an invoice and request a sameday payment BUT not quick to address work that was not completed properly.Waiting for someone to respond to phone calls , faxes for over 1 month now.
Think twice before using them.
On 2011-03-10 we looked in the yellow pages for somebody to come and give us a quotation on the Earth leakage Breaker that tripped. In the yellow pages I saw their advert stating: free quotation, low prices, no call out fees. What a load of BULL!!! We waited 2 hours for them to pitch. the people came, looked at the problem, opened the DB board, and said that the Main circuit, Earth leakage and one circuit breaker burned. Then “GERRIE” of AAA electrical phoned and said the whole DB board needs to be replaced, at a discounted price of R4923.00 plus vat. So we decided that we will phone our insurance company and that they will fix the problem. We told Gerrie that we cannot accept his quotation. Gerrie told us that his people “worked” on the DB board and that we must pay a fee of R495.00. After phoning Gerrie he told us that they use the advert in the Yellow pages to get more clients. It is not his problem if we cannot use our common sense that if a worker takes out his tools that they are working. There workers are not well informed to tell the people about this fact: that when they open a board or plug, to look for the fault, that R495.00 will be charged. Now common sense tells me that when you promise something in an advert and you do not deliver that you are a FRAUD, and that I will never in my life tell anybody to use that company. By the way the insurance fixed the problem for only R2300.00. AAA Electrical is overcharging a lot of people. I would not recommend this company to anybody.
I was overseas and our mains tripped on a section of our house. My wife called AAA Electrical and they replaced 1x Earth Leakage switch and 2 x isolator switches and charged her R6000. On my return I priced the parts and they were freely available over the counter at any electrical shop for +- R700. Like all the other posts above I found that it’s impossible to talk to anybody about the ridiculous charge and they tell you that they are not allowed to divulge the company’s physical address or the owner’s details. I have not received a Compliance Certificate and since this job was done I have found out that the Earth Leakage trip switch is incorrectly wired (Some circuits have no protection at all). Now I have to pay again to fix the bad wiring by AAA Electrical. These are rip off artists and should be closed down but nothing will be done until maybe one day there is a death caused by their bad wiring.
Pleas do not make use of AAA Electrical.
They are a rip -off to the customers.
They at first want to charge me R11,232.00 for the replace- ment of an earth leakage switch.
They took my switch out and pretend it is not working while it was still in a working condition.
To cut a long story short.
That same night of 28 MARCH 2011 it cost me R3489.00 to allow them to come and replace a new switch
There is a guy by the name of Gerrie who work for them on telephone 011 885 3028…he is a “Shark” and a rip -off on behalf of this company.
There personell never come back to you on any complain.
They do not give the telephone numbers of the MANAGERS neither the mail address of the company
This company is a total rip-off.
Advise of any body are wellcome how i can take them on to get them blacklisted from the roll of ELECTRICIAN COMPANY

What a rip off company.
NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM.
They charge for a EARTH LEAKAGE switch R4389..
The cost of same switch is R1200.000. at the shop
On any of your complaints they never come back to the customer
They even do not have an address on their invoices.
Companies like this have something to hide.
They only promise that one of the Managers will cal you back
The receptionists are as schrod as the Bosses.
They do not want to give telephone numbers of the bosses neither any email addresses
What a shame to work for a company like this.
One day the workers will go to hell while the Bosses of the company enjoy their lives….but they will follow soon.
STAY AWAY FROM AAA COMPANY WHO EVER THEY ARE .
NEVER EVER EVER USE THESE PEOPLE!! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES !!!! AND WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
I had an experience with this company similar to those already mentioned. I have also been unable to get anyone to phone me back despite leaving seven calls with their receptionist. I also faxed a letter to their MD, and this has also remained unanswered. I suggest that each case be handed over to the CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE – GAUTENG.

These guys tried to take me for R 2,695 for a job that only costs R 700. I asked for a detailed invoice but they refuse.
They contacted me 5 times in 3 hours to force payment. Luckly I only paid a portion. I told them to gove me a detailed invoice and I would settle but still nothing?? ?Makes you think doesn’t it!
Why did I not read the comments on this site before I allowed AAA into my house. Well it’s too late now, AAA took me for R3500.00.
I am contacting the consumer affairs office TODAY! Why didn’t I see these reports before letting these SCAM ARTISTS into my house! not only was I taken for R3,000 (to reset the leakage, i.e. push up a lever!) I had intruders on my property for TWO NIGHTS following the ‘visit’ I also had the electrician bring a friend who asked my domestic worker to use the ‘loo’ and proceeded to wander around our home!?!?? This is disgusting!!!!!! What goes around DOES come around!!!!!!!
